For the uninitiated, and even sometimes for the experienced, a set of building blueprints can be confusing, frustrating, and even intimidating. In this presentation, Architect, David E. Johnson AIA, EDAC a partner at Johnson Johnson Crabtree Architects P.C. will introduce the key elements and industry jargon to have you flipping through a set of blueprints like an expert. If you are involved in a construction project and get lost in the plans, or if you just want to hone your blueprint reading skills, this presentation is worth your time.

There will be plenty of time for questions and responses.

Pathway Lending: Opportunities with Energy Efficiency Financing

A thought leadership opportunity presented by SFM and Pathway Lending
    Learn about the Pathway Lending Energy Efficiency Loan Program from Brandon England the Energy Efficiency Director.

    In collaboration with Pathway Lending, AccuWorks, and Host(s), SFM is pleased to offer a free professional development opportunity.

    Brandon England, the Energy Efficiency Director from Pathway Lending will discuss the details of the Energy Efficiency Loan program. This program can finance any investment in a fixed asset that provides significant reductions in energy. Emissions, and /or utility consumption.

    The Energy Efficiency lending program allows any industrial, commercial, private non-profit business, or local government with facilities in Tennessee are eligible for a loan from $20,000 to $5 million. Through the current program rates from 2% for 5-year terms, 5% for 10-year terms, and up to 100% financing for projects up to $5 million.

    A Conversation with Metro Nashville Public Health Department Inspectors

      A Conversation With TN State Fire Marshal Inspectors

      Learn about the fire inspection process & life safety codes from members of the Tennessee State Fire Marshal's Office

        In collaboration with The Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office, and Cathedral of the Incarnation, SFM is pleased to offer a free professional development opportunity.

        Gary Farley and Christopher Bainbridge from the Tennessee State Fire Marshal Office will lead this discussion. This course is designed to teach church and school administrators as well as facilities staff how to insure their facility is meeting life safety codes and prepared to pass the state fire marshal inspection process.

        The discussion will address questions related to the fire safety and inspection process, such as:

        • A summary of the inspection process
        • Understanding liability and fire code requirements
        • Fire codes related to stairwells
        • How are fire codes responding to schools response to lock down and active shooter prevention
        • What are new regulations
        • What is the requirement for artwork and posters on the walls
        • Where is emergency lighting required
        • Requirements related to Ansul hoods
        • What are the requirement for log books (IE elevator tests, fire drills, etc)

          The discussion will address real-life examples such as:

          • A strange car in the parking lot with someone in it
          • A stranger in the school library. Get them to leave.
          • Someone comes to the church door asking for a handout - becomes aggressive
          • Panhandlers in the parking lot at dismissal
          • Upset parent in the school office
          • Upset person told they can’t park in a specific area during an event
          • A Strange person walking around the school/church grounds
